Abstract
1,113,232. Nuclear power plant. UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY. 24 Sept., 1965 [25 June, 1964], No. 26313/64. Heading G6C. [Also in Division B1] A de-salting plant comprises a gas-cooled nuclear reactor 1, hot gas from which passes as working fluid to a gas turbine 3 and from the turbine to a distillation plant as heating medium for saline water. Helium from turbine 3 heats brine in heat exchangers 6a, 6b and then passes to compressor 5, further heat exchanger 7, and high pressure compressor 4 before returning to the nuclear reactor. Compressors 4, 5 are driven by the turbine 3. The distillation plant consists of a series of flash evaporators 8a ... 8c, brine entering at 10 and condensate leaving at 9.
