Abstract
1,112,591. Bosshead clamps. B. W. HARRISON. 12 July, 1965 ,[31 July, 1964], No. 30346/ 64. Heading E2B. A bosshead clamp having two open channels 1, 2 wherein a pair of laboratory scaffolding members can be secured along perpendicular axes is characterised in that respective securing means for the channels are arranged to apply securing forces to the scaffolding members along directions which converge at an acute angle so as to be applicable both from the same side of the clamp. In the embodiment shown the securing means are thumbscrews 7 acting along coplanar axes and each thumbscrew acts towards the apex of a V- shaped portion of one of the channels 1, 2. In a second embodiment the thumbscrews act along skew axes. In both these embodiments the channels are formed in a one piece structure. In other embodiments the thumbscrews are replaced by hexagonal-headed bolts or allen screws.
