Abstract

1,112,503. Change-speed control. INTOMATIC BASEL A.G. 24 Nov., 1966 [25 Nov., 1965], No. 52698/66. Heading F2D. A gear-box with synchromesh clutches 10, 12 is operated by an electric motor 3 with a controller 4 and driving a disc 1 connected to the clutches by links 6, 7, provision being made for reducing the current supplied to the motor during the synchronizing period, so that the mechanism is then driven substantially only by the kinetic energy of the motor rotor. The motor current is controlled by a disc 21 rotated in synchronism with the disc 1 and comprising radially aligned contacts 32, 33, 34 and 36, 37, respectively, moving over conductive plates 47, 26, 27. Plate 47 is formed with cut-outs 22, 23, 24, 25 for stopping the motor when the clutches are in their engaged or neutral positions, while plates 26, 27 have angularly adjustable cut-outs 28, 29 during the passage of which past contacts 36, 37 a resistance 48 is brought into circuit to reduce the motor current. A centrifugal governor 44 on the motor shaft operates to close a switch 42 and restore the motor current if the speed falls below a predetermined value. An override switch 41 is also provided.
