Making compound fabrics.-In means for applying a rubber tread strip, shown built up from layers 3 - - 7, to a tyre foundation 2 on a rotating core 1, the rubber is rolled into place by a pair of balls 8 mounted in anti-friction bearings 10 on arms 11 which are adjusted to the contour of the core by spring or cam mechanism, or by hand.
