Abstract
1,110,032. Sealed accumulators. DYNAMIC INSTRUMENT CORPORATION. 20 April, 1965, No. 16492/65. Heading H1B. [Also in Divisions G1 and G3] The invention comprises apparatus for charging an accumulator including means for varying an electrical resistance in response to gas pressure within the cell and so controlling the charging current. In the case of a multicell accumulator 117 (Fig. 12), this may comprise a manifold sealed to the filler opening of each cell and coupling them to the pressure responsive means 119. Alternatively (Fig. 14), the cells may be connected within the battery by vents 121, excessive pressure being released by safety valves 123. Where the ambient pressure is variable (as in an aircraft) the battery and pressure responsive means may be sealed into a single container 105 (Fig. 11), leads (not shown) from the battery terminals 106, 107 and transducer terminals 108, 109 passing through the container.
