Abstract

A pack of fuel cells 5a, 5b, 7a, is arranged with their axes horizontally disposed in a parallelipiped case comprising walls 2, 3. If desired, a fuel reformer 22 may also be included or the fuel may be supplied from external sources. One gas is circulated between the walls and permeates into the cells which have coaxial electrodes and the other component is supplied by pipes 13. Conductors 19, 19<SP>1</SP> connect the cells in any desired series/parallel arrangement.
