Abstract
964,467. Fuel cells. LEESONA CORPORATION. Feb. 13, 1962 [Feb. 28, 1961], No. 5561/62. Heading H1B. A fuel cell assembly comprises individual fuel cells 12 arranged end-to-end and united into a sub-assembly, a supporting member 16 rigidly connected to the sub-assembly between its ends and projecting beyond the periphery of the sub-assembly and secured to complementary dome-shaped housings 26a, 26b which have gas inlets 49a in the supporting member, and electrical leads 88. The cells may be composed of bi-polar electrodes, or if connected in parallel have a "back-to-back" construction. A solution of sodium or potassium hydroxide forms the electrolyte. The battery may be pressurized up to e.g. 800 p.s.i.
