Abstract

1,109,821. Agricultural pick-up trailer draw bar mechanism. TEXAS INDUSTRIES Inc. 19 May, 1965 [28 May, 1964; 21 Aug., 1964; 17 Sept., 1964], No. 21281/65. Heading A1P. [Also in Division B8] An agricultural pick-up trailer can have the planes of rotation of its wheels adjusted so that the longitudinal axis of the trailer can occupy different inclinations to the intended direction of travel so that the wheels do not pass over the crop being picked up. A trailer 1 having a load space 4 which may have a conveyer floor and a pick-up and elevating mechanism 20 has ground wheels 2, 3 angularly adjustable on vertical king pins 5, 6 by a crank 17 mounted on the draw bar 19 and acting through a chain drive 15, a rod 13, screw nut 12, tube 11, arms 10, 8, track rod 9 and arm 8. Numerous mechanical and hydraulically operated mechanisms worked manually or from a power supply are described. The hydraulic mechanisms may be used to raise the pick-up mechanism as described, and claimed in Specification 1,109,822 or to displace the draw bar horizontally as described and claimed in Specification 1,109,823 and these movements may be linked with the movement of the wheels so that the pick-up and draw bar mechanisms are in their operative position when the wheels are offset and are inoperative when they are in a straight towing position.
