Abstract

110,971. Dehn, F. B., (Stewart, E. J.). Nov. 29, 1916. Floors, cleaning.-In a motor-driven floorscrubbing machine, a rotary brush B is carried between the front ends of suspender-plates a which are pivoted at the back on pins f<31> projecting from the frame of the machine. The plates a are adjusted for wear of the brush by means of rods c<1> secured to a cross-bar f<8> which is moved by a rod c<2> provided with a notched handle c<3> engaging a stud upon a spring f<12>. The splashreceptacle c has pins d<2> which are urged by springs g into contact with inclined portions a<1> of the suspender-plates, and the splash-apron d<1> is pivoted to the receptacle and has side flanges which carry studs f<9> pivoted to the frame. The water is supplied from a tank T to a sprinkler S through a funnel i, carried by a rocker arm i<1> to which a spring-pressed valve stem i<3> is fastened; this valve is operated by a bell-crank lever from the control sleeve k mounted on the handle h'. The propelling handles of the machine are formed in parts telescoping in each other against spring action, the arrangement being such that when the springs are compressed in propulsion, the switch for the driving-motor is closed, but is opened as soon as the thrust on the machine ceases.
