Abstract

1,108,897. Gear pumps. ROLLS-ROYCE Ltd. Oct.11, 1966, No. 45451/66. Heading F1F. A gear pump assembly for scavenging oil from the bearings (not shown) e. g. of a gas turbine engine, comprises a plurality of gears 15, Fig. 2, with each gear meshing with the next adjacent gear or gears to form a plurality of gear pumps 14, one less in number than the number of gears. The pumps are housed in a common housing 12 built into the wall 11 of a reservoir in which a further gear pump supplying oil to the bearings is housed. Inlets 18 and outlets 19 to the pumps 14 are alternately arranged with the outlets discharging into the reservoir via a common manifold 20. The central gear 15 is mounted on a drive shaft, which shaft also mounts one of the gears of the oil supply pump.
