Abstract

A material having diuretic, antitoxic and mental stimulating properties is obtained by extracting mammalian brain tissue (optionally defatted) with 70-80% ethanol and, thereafter, precipitating the active material from an aqueous alcoholic solution by addition of ethanol up to a concentration of about 93%. The material may be put up into conventional pharmaceutical forms for oral and parenteral administration with conventional vehicles.
