Cleaning, fluid-pressure processes for.-In a cleaner, particularly applicable to the cleaning of the smoke tubes of marine boilers by means of a steam jet, the nozzle is adjustable so that the apparatus can be used on boilers differing in size. Special means are provided for holding the jet in the active and non-active positions. Fig. 2 shows the apparatus in the non-active position, and Fig. 5 in the active. A ball-shaped nozzle 8 is secured on a tube 3 by a screw-cap 7 and can be adjusted so that the steam aperture 10, Fig. 3, can be angularly adjusted according to the size of the boiler. The tube 3 slides in a casing 1 fixed to the boiler and provided with a steam tube 2. In the active position, the steam passes into the tube through apertures 14, but in the retracted position these apertures serve to receive a wedge 15 for holding the tube against accidental movement. When the tube is pushed into the active position, engaging means are provided in connexion with the operating-wheel 5 to maintain it in position against the steam pressure. To provide a jet for cleaning the walls of the combustion chamber, the screw-cap has a second aperture 13 and the nozzle a channel 11, Fig. 4, so that steam can pass in any position of the nozzle. To prevent escape of steam, the casing is coned to receive a corresponding surface 16 formed on the tube 3.
