Abstract

1,107,919. Two-part couplings AMP Inc. 22 Sept., 1966 [7 Oct., 1965], No. 42559/65. Heading H2E. A multiway electrical connector comprises a rectangular frame supporting at least one contact block 5, the frame including upper and lower members 1, 2 extending longitudinally of the block 5 and having lateral portions 6 with internal ribs 7 which engage corresponding slots 10 in the block ends. When only one block is thus supported the members 1 and 2 are clamped together directly, but when several blocks 5 are mounted together, side-pieces 3, 4 are disposed at the block ends and have ribs 13, forming a continuation of those 7 in members 1, 2, and slotted bores 15 to receive tie-bars or self-tapping screws extending through apertures 12 in members 1, 2. Preferably the frame is of metal, has apertured flanges 17 for securing the assembly in a panel aperture and has rearwardly extending walls 16 to serve as a hood for a mating connector assembly.
