Abstract
1,107,878. Shearing. DEMAG A.G. 7 April, 1965 [29 May, 1964], No. 14826/65. Heading B3W. In a flying shear having contra-rotating blade carrying drums which start from rest for each cutting cycle the blades are movable radially in the drums by cams, between a cutting and a non-cutting position. The return of the blades is by spring means. The blade carrying drums 1a and 1b are mounted on hollow shafts 6a and 6b, which carry intermeshing gear-wheels 8a and 8b, respectively. The gears 8a and 8b also mesh with gear 9a and 9b which are secured to the same shafts as gears 10a and 10b. These last gears mesh, respectively, with gears 11a and 11b which are mounted on shafts 4a and 4b which pass through the hollow shafts 6a and 6b respectively and carry the cams 3a and 3b which move the blades 2a and 2b radially outwards. The overall gear ratio between the shafts 4a, 4b and 6a, 6b determines the frequency with which the blades are moved to the cutting position.
