Abstract

1,107,812. Vehicle driving mirrors. RAYDYOT Ltd. 24 Jan., 1966 [13 Feb., 1965], No. 6314/65. Heading B7J. [Also in Division E2] A mirror for a vehicle has a swivel joint comprising a tubular part 14 and a plug 20 having a shaped socket accommodating a head 30, the tubular part preventing expansion of the plug and maintaining the frictional resistance to swivelling of the head in the plug. The tubular part and the plug have complementary interlockable parts 16. The plug has at least one slot 27 providing resilience and facilititating snap engagement of the ball in the socket, and the tubular part having an abutment 18 (Fig. 4) to engage the slot. The joint at the other end of the stem 31 may be a ball and socket as described above or a swivel joint comprising two generally parallel arms 38 enclosing a part cylindrical recess into which a pivot 32 snaps, and a cap 33 shaped to prevent opening of the arms and to maintain frictional resistance to turning.
