Abstract

1,107,211. Conveyers; pallets. ACROW (ENGINEERS) Ltd. 23 Sept., 1964 [14 Aug., 1963], No. 32207/63. Headings B8A and B8H. [Also in Division A4] Storage equipment for pallets comprises openended tracks which extend from one side of the equipment to the other, reciprocating drive means being provided to move the pallets stepby-step. U-shaped tracks 8 have wheels 10 on which pallets 12 run and each pair of tracks forms a lane. A number of lanes may extend one above the other and side by side. Reciprocating drive.-An hydraulically operated actuator 18 is connected to a carrier 28 having pairs of fingers 36 pivotally mounted on it, the fingers being counterweighted so as normally to be biased to engage pallet driving bars 16 as shown in Fig. 2. On the return stroke of the actuator and carrier 28, the fingers 36 pivot to clear the driving bars 16, ready to assume the driving position for the next forward stroke. Modifications.-The fingers 36 may be actuated by direct connection through rods or levers and the movement of the pallets may be controlled by manual or automatic control equipment. In Fig. 3, each finger 36 is held in the driving position by a spring-loaded plunger 50, the strength of a spring 54 being such that the finger remains in the drive position to move the pallets during all normal circumstances. If a lane is blocked, the plungers 50 overcome the pressure of the springs 54 so that no damage to the pallets or hydraulic drive system occurs and the fingers pivot in a clockwise direction to move under the drive bars 16.
