Abstract
110,568. Ionides, A. C., and Cooke. S. V. Oct. 20, 1916. Pressure-regulating valves; fluid actuating- mechanism.-Relates to pressure-regulating valve apparatus for maintaining a constant pressure relation between two elastic fluids for the purpose of mixing them in determined proportions and of the type in which two valves are operated by a diaphragm or bell subjected to the pressures of the two fluids on opposite sides. The valves c, c<1> are double-beat and are positioned one above the other in a vertical casing S, the lower valve c being directly connected to the operating-bell &c. d so as to move therewith, whilst the upper valve c<1> is connected to the bell through direction-reversing means consisting of sensitive levers g<1>, g<6> mounted on points or knife edges; the whole mov. ing arrangement is balanced and the valves travel the same vertical distance in opposite directions. The lower valve is formed with a shaped plug c<8> to render the flow proportional to the travel of the valve. The valves may be built up of light tubular and dished spun or pressed members c<2>, c<3>, c' braced by light tension-rods c<5>. The operating- bell is enclosed in a seal chamber e<1>, e<2>. If the seal is blown by excessive pressure from above, the liquid is directed by a hooded tube e<7> into a chamber e<5> from which it may drain back into the seal chamber through the ball valve e<8>.
