Abstract
A ferroelectric ceramic element is polarized by applying in succession an A.C. voltage and a D.C. voltage both of coercive magnitude, but less than the breakdown voltage. The Specification gives numerous examples of the application of the method to the compositions having the formula Pb(Zr0.52Ti0.48)O3 including the additives Fe2O3, or Cr2O3 or Ga2O3 in proportions of up to 0.5 wt. %.
