Abstract

Novel compounds (and their acid addition and quaternary salts and N-oxides) of general formula <FORM:1105219/C2/1> wherein R1 and R2 are each H, halogen, C1-C4 alkyl or alkoxy, R3 is H or C1- 4 alkyl, R4\t and R5 may each represent C1- 4 alkyl, hydroxyalkyl or benzyl optionally substituted by OH, halogen, C1-C4 alkyl or alkoxy, or methylenedioxy, or R4 or R5 together with the adjacent N atom are piperidino, morpholino, 1-pyrrolidinyl, 4 - methyl - 1 - piperazinyl, tetrahydroisoquinolin-2-yl or tetrahydroisoindolin-2-yl and n is 1, 2 or 3, are prepared by reacting an amine of formula H.N.R4.R5, or, if a quaternary salt is desired, an amine of formula alkyl N.R4.R5, with a reactive ester of a compound of formula <FORM:1105219/C2/2> optionally with salt formation or oxidation to the N-oxide. Reactive esters of the compound of the last general formula above, e.g. chlorides, are prepared by reacting the anhydrides or acid halides of a -halo alkanoic acids with a fused diazaheterocyclic compound of formula <FORM:1105219/C2/3> Fused diazaheterocyclic compounds of the last general formula above are prepared by condensation of a diamine of formula H2N-CH2-(CH2)n-NH2 and a benzoylbenzoic acid of formula <FORM:1105219/C2/4> Pharmaceutical compositions, having anti-inflammatory, analgetic, hypotensive, spasmolytic, sedative and anti-tussive activity and in conventional forms for oral, rectal or parenteral administration, comprise an above novel compound and an inert carrier optionally with further additives.
