Abstract
1,103,369. Pile driving. EDMUND NUTTALL SONS & CO. (LONDON) Ltd. 8, Dec., 1966, No. 55071/66. Heading E1H. A pile clamp 2 comprises an anchor member 5 to which are pivoted gripping fingers 6, 7 which can be tightened by turnbuckle 10, sliders 3 for engaging with pile leader 4 to guide the gripped pile 1 and means for disengaging the gripping fingers 6, 7 to release the clamp 2 from the pile 1 when driving has reached a predetermined depth. In the embodiment described the release means comprises pivot pin 9 to which is welded an abutment plate 14 which strikes an abutment plate on the pile leader to remove the pivot pin when driving has reached the predetermined depth.
