Abstract

1,103,167. Rotary vane motors. DOWTY TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENTS Ltd. June 9, 1965 [June 17, 1964], No.25206/64. Heading F1F. A rotary sliding vane motor comprising a rotor 15, Fig. 2, having a plurality of radiallydirected slots 19 slidably mounting vanes 20 and rotatable in a housing part 13 having a doublelobed inner periphery 42 to provide two abutments, includes in the inlet connection 24, Fig. 1, a restriction 39 and upstream thereof a branch pipe 30. The branch pipe 30 is connected through a part 32 to an arcuate groove 36 and through a further pipe 33 and a part 35 to another arcuate groove 37 to communicate inlet pressure to the bottoms of those slots 19 whose vanes 20 are initially subjected to inlet pressure through inlet pockets 25a, 25c and 26a, 26c respectively. To ensure high torque on starting, the above mentioned vanes are immediately urged radially outwards into sealing contact with the inner periphery of the housing part 13 before pressure builds up to drive the vanes.
