Abstract

1,102,739. Seed sowing machines. C. VAN DER LELY N.V. 17 March, 1965 [25 March, 1964], No. 42456/67. Divided out of 1,098,467. Heading A1D. A seed sower comprises a plurality of seed cups 4 and feed tubes 5 each provided with flaps 13 that are pivoted by cam wheels mounted on a shaft 11 to deliver seed from a hopper 3, the shaft 11 being driven at a variable speed by a device arranged in a housing 15 and driven by a landwheel 1 the device comprising two cams 22 which are driven through gearing 18, 19 from the landwheel 1 and which co-operate with rollers 26 mounted on triangular plates 24 which are pivoted on a shaft 25. Each plate engages a roller 32 in a slot 31, the roller being mounted on the end of a lever 35 and also engaging in the slot 33 of a lever 28 which drives the shaft 11 when the lever is moved in the direction C only, through gearing and a clutch 40a. The clutch comprises a pawl wheel 29 fixed to the lever 28 and provided with resilient strips 39 which cooperate in one direction only with the inner side of a jacket 40 surrounding each pawl wheel 29 and formed on the said inner side with friction material, the outer side being provided with toothing 41. The driving mechanism is such that a continuous rotation of the shaft 11 is ensured. The levers 35 carrying the rollers 32 are pivoted on a shaft 36 mounted on a lever 37 the position of which can be adjusted from outside the casing 15 to adjust the stroke of the lever 28 and thus adjust the speed of revolution of the shaft 11.
