Abstract

1,102,607. Automatic topping-up devices for electric cells. ALKALINE BATTERIES Ltd. 15 July, 1966 [16 Aug., 1965], No. 34980/65. Heading HlB. An electric cell having an automatic topping- up device such as that shown in the accompanying drawing comprises an air-tight reservoir 20 for liquid, supported above the cell 10 by the two terminal pillars 12 of the cell, and a pair of passages, a vent passage and a filling passage, which extend from the interior of the reservoir to the interior of the cell through the terminal pillars, one through each, and of which one opens out of the lower part of the reservoir and opens into the cell approximately at the desired liquid level, and the other opens into the cell at or below the desired liquid level.
