Abstract
1,102,323. Packaging sausage casings. OPPENHEIMER CASING CO. (U.K.) Ltd. 1 Oct., 1965 [1 July, 1964], No. 27166/64. Heading B8C. Sausage casings 10 are bundled and secured together by a tie or marker 14 and folded in zig-zag or hanked formation into a container such as a bag 12, which is then sealed, the tie providing a grip whereby the casings may be unravelled from the container. Both container and tie may be of thermoplastic material, in which case the tie may be sealed into the top of the container on closing. The container material may contain a pigment to protect the casings from the effect of ultra-violet light, and a preservative such as brine or salt may be included within the container. Alternatively, the bundles of casings may be treated before packing. The container may be a bag of aluminium foil coated with thermoplastic material. The tie may be tape-coated with thermoplastic material. More than one bundle of casings may be included in each container, each bundle having attached to it a tie or marker. In a further embodiment, casings are folded singly into the container, each casing having a marker attached to it.
