Abstract

1,101,790. Endless conveyers. AMP Inc. 15 Nov., 1966 [10 Dec., 1965], No. 51040/66. Heading B8A. The opposed ends of looped electrical leads 10 are gripped by pairs of grippers 12 carried on an endless conveyer. During the travel of the latter, the ends of the leads are stripped and crimp-fitted with connectors at stations 24. Further downstream, the upstream gripper of each successive pair of grippers, is released, and the loop is engaged by one of a number of members 55 carried by an endless chain (46) (Fig. 2, not shown). This causes the lead to be combed out, and the other gripper 12 of the pair is then released to permit the lead to fall into a bin 40. The second gripper 12 is released by the action of a push rod 98 actuated by a cam 92. The latter is rotated by a rack and pinion mechanism 84, 86 driven by a linkage 68, 70 from a shaft 32. A further rack and pinion mechanism 74, 76 rotates fingers 82, 82, which engage the lead to discharge it from, and in timed relation with the gripper.
