Abstract
1,101,775. Tractor power lift mechanisms. MASSEY-FERGUSON Inc. 26 Jan., 1965 [31 Jan., 1964], No. 3466/65. Addition to 1,046,621. Heading A1P. A tractor power lift mechanism having draft control and position control is characterized by means for controlling the pressure in the ram 21a including a valve 261 hydraulically connected to the ram and controlling admission of pressure fluid to a device 262 incorporating a flexible diaphragm 264 movements of which operate, through a rod 267, the main control valve 115. The pressure at which the valve 261 opens to feed fluid to the diaphragm 264 is controlled by adjustment of a spring 288 biasing a valve element 284 by means of the manual lever 225 operating cam 310 arranged to move lever 305. The main control valve 115 is operated by the rod 267 through levers 146 and 140 movements of which are damped by a dashpot device 165. Position control is also operated by manual lever 225 and in the position range shown, the cam 310 sets the pressure control valve 261 at its maximum setting. For position control a roller 233 eccentrically mounted on the cam 310 moves a cam element 231 downwardly whereupon co-operation between the cam element 231 and a roller 229 fixed to rocker plates 228 pulls the cam element 231 rearwardly to pivot lever 146 and thence move the control valve 115. Follow-up is provided by a roller 227 on the rocker plates 228 engaging a cam 226 on the rock-shaft 20a, the rocker-plates being spring-biased to keep the roller in contact with the cam. Draft load is initially set by manual lever 220 operating an eccentric roller 223 cooperating with a cam element 215 and is then controlled by movements of the upper link 14a acting against a spring 200 to operate, through rods 203, 204, rocker plates 205. A roller 211 carried by the rocker plates 205 engages the cam element 215 which operates, via the links 146 and 140, the main control valve 115. A lost motion connection 216 between the cam 215 and link 146 enables the pressure and position controls to be operated independently of the draft control. The pressure control, however, can operate when draft control is operating to limit the maximum pressure occuring in the ram 21a. By setting the pressure control to limit the pressure in the ram to a value less than that required by lifting an attached implement weight transfer from the implement to the tractor can be obtained.
