Abstract

1,101,637. Two-part couplings; boxes for cartridge fuses. AMP Inc. 29 Nov., 1966 [17 Dec., 1965], No. 53561/65. Headings H2E and H2G. An electrical connector housing assembly, Fig. 2, comprises at least one insulating housing 2 and a fuse unit 3 which are releasably engaged in an aperture of plate 1 by means of ribs having a snap-fit with a groove in the longer sides of the aperture, the plate 1 being fixed to a bulkhead around an opening therein. Passageways (14, Fig. 3, not shown), in housing 2 contain connectors 15 which are crimpconnected to conductors 16, the tab ends 20 of connectors 15 making contact with connection 40 contained in within passageways 39 in housing 38, the latter fitting inside housing 2 and being held in position by flange 42 abutting on the top edge of the walls 22 of housing 2. Adjacent housings 2 and adjacent housings 38 are releasably engaged by projections 12 and 44, contained within recesses 13 and 45 respectively. The connectors 15 are held in position by shoulders 17 and tongues 18 which engage stops 19, Fig. 4, on the housing 2. A layer 24 of resilient material is in sealing engagement with the tabs 20 of connectors 15 so as to provide a gas-tight connection. Fuses 30 are held in supports 27 which comprise fuse contacts 28 and limbs 31 for receiving connectors 32, the latter being crimp-connected to conductors 33.
