Abstract

1,100,927. Ratchet clutches. SQUARE D CO. 11 May, 1966 [16 June, 1965], No. 20776/66. Heading F2C. [Also in Division H1] A closing spring or springs for a circuitbreaker is or are charged by a cam 81 carried on a shaft 79 coaxial with shafts 78, 80. Coil springs 91, 92 surround the ends of the shafts and serve as one-way clutches allowing the shaft 80 (which carries a handle 94) to be oscillated to-and-fro whilst maintaining unidirectional movement of the cam. An electric motor may be connected to shaft 78 for powercharging. Rotation of the cam when the spring is charged is prevented by a stop, the clutch slipping thereafter.
