Abstract

In electro-slag welding steel workpieces containing up to 0.3% C, up to 1.5% Mn, up to 0.6% Si, up to 0.04% S, up to 0.04% P and optionally 0.1-5% total of one or more of Cr, Mo, Ni, W, Cu, Co, Al, Ti and Cb, the weld deposit contains 0.01-0.1% V. The latter is obtained from the inclusion of at least 0.02% V in the workpieces and/or the welding wire. In the following tables, columns 1, 3, 5 refer to workpieces welded using the filler wires specified in columns 2, 4, 6:- <TABS:1100459/C6-C7/1> as percentages by weight, balance being Fe.
