Abstract

1,099,588. Comparators; follow-up systems. MULLARD Ltd. April 6, 1966, No. 15334/66. Headings G4H and G4M. Binary-coded decimal signals, e.g. from a tape reader 2 and a counter 4, turn on selected ones of transistors 22-28 and 32-38 to respectively connect positive and negative voltage sources to a summing line 12 through respective binary - weighted resistors 23-29 and 33-39. If the two compared numbers are not equal, one or other of transistors 62, 63 will conduct and the positive or negative voltage source will be connected to output 18 through transistor 66 or 68. A similar comparator is provided for each decade, and the outputs 18 are connected to a common line with graded resistors between the junctions so that the most significant comparison result overrides the others. The comparator arrangement may provide an error signal for a servomotor in a machinetool control system, the output shaft of the motor driving a pulse generator connected to counter 4. Transistors 32-38 may be replaced by diodes.
