Abstract

1,099,354. Loading railway wagons from bunkers. COAL INDUSTRY (PATENTS) Ltd. April 27, 1965 [April 29, 1964], No. 17810/64. Heading B8E. Apparatus for loading material such as coal or coke from a bunker, provided with a series of outlets 20, into a train of railway wagons, Fig. 1 (not shown), comprises a transfer unit consisting of a hopper 26, of such a longitudinal extent as to overlap a plurality of the outlets 20, and a shoot 28 which are mounted on a carriage running on rails over the wagons. The hopper 26 is provided with a bottom closure plate 46 movable between the two positions shown by a ram 48. The shoot 28 has a lower part 28a telescopically slidable relatively to the upper part and is carried by arms 28b so that it can be moved from the position shown to a retracted position by means of rams 54. The transfer unit is controlled from an operator's cab 62 mounted on the carriage. The doors 68 of the bunker outlets 20 may be controlled by hydraulic rams whose operation is controlled by a valve operated by cam gear fixed on or adjacent to the hopper 26.
