Abstract
1,099,005. Malt turners. H. J. H. KING & CO. Ltd. Aug. 5, 1966 [May 19, 1965], No. 21199/65. Heading B1C. [Also in Division B8] A malt turner comprises an inclined endless conveyer 10 pivoted about its mid-point 15 below a self-propelled carriage 17 on rails 49, whereby the apparatus can travel across the malting floor 12 in either direction with its forward end down, the grain being discharged at the rear to form a new bed 13. A single motor 38 mounted on the carriage propels it and drives the conveyer; automatic control may be provided by limit and reversing switches. The conveyer may comprise a chain 19 having wooden flights 23 connected thereto by plates 25 through lugs (19), nylon bushes (27) and pins (28) which have collars (29) engaged by the drive sprockets 20 (see also Fig. 2, not shown). There may be several such conveyer systems side by side sharing a common drive shaft 81.
