Abstract

109,894. Lechmere, W. F., and James Cycle Co. Dec. 4, 1916. Spring devices.-Relates to spring frames for motor-cycles wherein the rear wheel is mounted in a triangular frame pivoted at the bottom to the main frame and controlled by springs which are disposed in horizontal tubes between the top of the wheel frame and the rear of the main frame adjacent to the saddle-pillar lug. According to the invention, an eccentric connexion is provided between the wheel frame and the plungers working in the tubes. As shown in Fig. 1, a tube 1, mounted on each side of the horizontal frame member 3, contains compression springs 7, 8 controlling a plunger 4, 5 which is fitted with an eccentric connexion 11, 13 to the wheel frame 12. There may be a separate pin 11 and disk 13 on each side, or there may be but one disk extending between the two sides, or two disks may be fitted with a common pin. Instead of using two tubes, a single central tube, such as the frame member, may be employed to contain the springs. Screwed caps 9 provide means for adjusting the springs.
