Portable speech transmitting - receiving apparatus comprises a chamber 10 containing electro-acoustic transducers and provided with a loop or aperture on the underside through which an apaulette 16 can be passed to support the apparatus on the shoulder of the user. The chamber 10 is open at the end nearer the user's head and carries two transducers (11, 12, Fig. 5, not shown), one for transmitting, one for receiving, at an angle to one another. Leads to these transducers terminate in a connector which can be plugged into the radio circuit unit conveniently carried on the user's belt. The slot in the loop member (15) is tapered to allow easy insertion of the epaulette.
