Abstract

1,098,278. Lubricating. DAIMLER-BENZ A.G. May 10, 1966 [June 19, 1965], No. 20702/66. Heading F2A. [Also in Division F1] A rotary piston engine comprises an inlet duct 2 for air or combustible mixture with an admission port in the piston track, and a lubricant inlet port 7 in the duct wall communicating with a passage 12 formed between the duct wall and a liner in the duct and having an outlet adjacent the track at the trailing side of the admission port. Lubricant is thus prevented from mixing with the air or combustible gas. In Fig. 1 a feed pump supplies lubricant through pipe 8 and pressure valve 9 to supply port. The circumferential width of the passage increases continuously from the lubcant supply port 7 to the lubricant outlet from a value of slightly greater than the diameter of port 7 to half the circumference of the duct 2. Admission port 4 is rounded at 13 to enable lubricant to flow on to the piston track. The passage is formed in the liner by electro-plating or pressing.
