Abstract

1,098,206. Collapsible tanks. T. E. PERREAU. Aug. 12, 1966 [Aug. 16, 1965], No. 36162/66. Heading B8D. [Also in Division E2] A collapsible tank is formed with a side wall of metal slats 10, the longitudinal edges of which are curved over in reverse directions, enabling the slats to interengage, tension bands 12 holding the slats permanently secured together, so that the side wall may be unrolled from its collapsed condition and secured to end members. The respective ends of each band 12 have an eye (15), Fig. 4 (not shown), and buckle (17) held interengaged by a captive locking pin (18), which join the longitudinal edges of the side wall when unrolled. Brackets (20), Fig. 5 (not shown), enable the side wall to be bolted to a stand 14 of timber planks. A collapsible liner (27), Fig. 2 (not shown), of plastics sheet is inserted within the side wall, its closed base being held extended by hook and eye connections and its open top being suspended from the upper edge of the side wall by hooks (29). A screwthreaded outlet (30) in the liner near its base extends through one of the slats 10 and is fitted with a stop cock 34. An overflow 35 is also provided. A foldable cruciform structure 39 of angle iron is attached by means of lugs 42 to the upper end of the side wall to support a cover 38 formed of slats 43 interengaged like the slats 10. Each slat 43 has locking tags (46), Fig. 3 (not shown), at its ends for joining the cover to the side wall. A water inlet funnel 47 is provided. The liner may be mosquito-proofed at its openings by means of flexible mesh material.
