Abstract

1,097,932. Ice-making. MASCHINENFABRIK NEMA VEB. March 16, 1965, No. 10985/65. Heading F4H. Ice-making apparatus comprises an annular evaporator 1, scrapers 4, 5 for removing ice from the inner and outer walls of the evaporator, a container 8 which receives liquid refrigerant from a liquid/vapour separator 9 and is in direct communication with the evaporator through tubes 10, and a liquid level sensing device 11 in container 8. Refrigerant vapour and entrained liquid are returned to the separator through tubes 12 and vapour is removed through suction line 13. Scrapers 4, 5 are mounted in bearings 16-19 carried by a cylindrical member 20 which is mounted on a central spindle 22 and is rotated by a pinion 24 engaging a gear ring 25 fixed to member 20. The latter may be rotated by worm gearing or friction rings, the diameter of the pitch circle of the driving gear being equal to or greater than that of the circular path traversed by either of the scrapers. An insulated housing 26 is provided for the apparatus.
