Abstract
1448131 Irradiating flowable media with electrons LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS GmbH 21 Nov 1973 [29 Nov 1972] 53997/73 Heading H5R A device for irradiating a liquid (or other flowable medium) with electrons comprises a funnel 14 which in this embodiment is rotated about its vertical axis by a motor 22 while the liquid is introduced at the apex at 16 from where it is thrown up to form a film at 24 where electrons from a source 11 strike the film. The irradiated liquid is collected in container 15 and drawn off through pipe 7. In Fig. 1 (not shown) the liquid is introduced into the outer container (2) and allowed to flow in a film over the inner surface of a stationary funnel (1) while being irradiated. In Fig. 3 (not shown) the funnel is rotated so that all the film is irradiated from an elongated source instead of from an annular source as in Figs. 1 and 2.
