Abstract

1,097,435. Laminates. R. PIETROCOLA. March 3, 1965 [March 4, 1964], No. 9072/65. Heading B5N. A composite laminated plastics material comprises a plurality of superposed layers of a thermoplastic synthetic resin joined together only by the application of heat and pressure, all the layers consisting either of an impact resistant unoriented polystyrene, or a terpolymer of acrylonitrile, butadiene and styrene. The layers may have differing physical properties and may be in the form of sheets and ribbons. A preferred embodiment comprises a three-layer laminate, the upper layer having on its lower surface printing imitating wood grain, leather, cloth or bricks, the intermediate layer constituting a coloured background and the lower layer constituting a backing. The layers are bonded together by the application of heat and pressure.
