Abstract

1,097,409. Projection lamps. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. April 27, 1966 [April 30, 1965], No. 18428/65. Heading H1F. A projection lamp having a reflector 13 on part of the envelope has one side formed with a flattened portion 7 forming a light output window and a part 8 opposite the base formed as a dome, the dimensions being such that for a 200 W. lamp the maximum distance of the outer surface of the window from the plane through the boundary is greater than 0À015 times and smaller than 0À055 times the distance between the most widely separated parts on the boundary of the window, and the maximum wall thickness of the dome is greater than 2À5 times and smaller than 10 times the minimum wall thickness of the window. The wall opposite the window is part of an ellipsoid and that surrounding the window is part of a sphere, the axes of X-X the ellipsoid and the sphere coinciding and the filament 9, which may be a single helix, being situated at a focus of the ellipsoid which also coincides with the centre of the sphere.
