Abstract

1,097,294. Endless conveyers. CHARROLD Ltd. Dec. 15, 1966 [Jan. 11, 1966], No. 1173/66. Heading B8A. A conveyer belt 1 has a plurality of parallel spaced transverse bars 2 attached to the inner surface of the belt, which rods are so spaced that at least one is always in contact with a drive pulley 3. The drive pulley has an outer covering or is moulded from a deformable material e.g. rubber or synthetic plastics material wherein the bars 2 on engagement therewith temporarily deform the material, the resultant effect being like a chain and sprocket drive. Additional bars (6) may be attached to the outer surface of the belt 1 directly opposite the bars 2 on the inner surface. The bars (6) may serve as flights. The inner and outer bars may be extended beyond the edges of the conveyer belt to abut against metal troughs or angles (7) to align the belt. Alternatively the bars may have inwardly dependant lugs (8) to engage over guide bars (9).
