Abstract

1,096,670. Photographic silver halide materials. KONISHIROKU PHOTO INDUSTRY CO. Ltd. Dec. 22, 1965 [Dec. 30, 1964], No.54412/65. Heading G2C. A non-heat sensitive photographic silver halide composition is stabilized by gallic acid or an alkyl gallate wherein the alkyl group has 1-18C atoms. The stabilizer may be incorporated in an emulsion just before, during or after the second ripening, as a solution in e.g. H 2 O, MeOH or EtOH. The stabilized emulsion may be coated on a support, or an unstabilized emulsion may be coated on a support and the stabilizer may be incorporated into another layer on the support. The stabilizer may be present as 0À003-3g/l of coating solution or emulsion. The composition may also contain chemical or optical sensitizers e.g. 9-methyl-3, 3'-diethyl-seleno-carbocyanine dye, or a color former. Specified supports include cellulose esters, polyesters of phthalic, isophthalic or terephthalic acid and dihydric alcohols, or polycarbonates.
