Abstract
1,096,173. Filling machines. HOLSTEIN & KAPPERT MASCHINENFABRIK PHOENIX G.m.b.H. March 16, 1965 [March 16, 1964], No. 10991/65. Heading B8T. A counter-pressure receptacle filling method comprises the supplying of gas at high pressure to the receptacle, followed by feeding the liquid thereto from a reservoir through a filling head located above the liquid level in the reservoir, the high pressure gas, during liquid filling, being led to a low pressure source, any excess liquid in the receptacle being forced back to the reservoir by a further supply of high pressure gas thereto. A rotary filling machine includes a high pressure reservoir 1 containing liquid and gas, above which is located a low pressure chamber 2, and pipes 12, 13 and 14 lead therefrom to circumferentially spaced filling heads positioned above the liquid level in the reservoir which is controlled by a float 3. Each head, Fig. 2, not shown, contains a liquid control valve 4 operated externally, and a cam operated slide valve 8 for controlling the supply of high pressure gas to the receptacle and also the feed back of this gas to the low pressure chamber. The head also includes a gas check valve 9 and a gas valve 10, the latter being opened by the receptacle when it is brought into contact with the head.
