In a device for maintaining the level of a lubricating oil 2 in a tank 1 constant, a supply reservoir 3, arranged at a higher level than the level of the oil 2 in the tank 1 and sealed in a gas tight manner by a plug 11, is connected to the tank 1 by a conduit 5 connected to the bottom of the reservoir 3 by a tube 4 and terminating by a tube 6 in the tank 1 at the required oil level.
