[Also in Division B8] Animal feeding apparatus comprises a mechanically working supply device 2 supplying feed to a number of troughs, a storage container being located between the device 2 and each trough and having an outlet which is opened after the filling of the last container. A pipe 8 conveys feed to hopper 9 and is surrounded by a sleeve 16 adjustable along the pipe so that its depth of penetration into hopper 9 can be varied to vary the amount of feed dispensed. Each hopper 9 has a closure flap 11 connected by cable 12 to a main cable 13 which is pulled under the control of a switch actuated when the last hopper is filled. Feed is conveyed along the device 2 by a worm driven by a motor. In a modification the storage hopper is secured on the supply device and is traversed by a shaft (25) carrying a regulating flap (26) which is adjusted to vary the effective volume of the hopper. The hopper is closed by a flap provided with a counterweight, the flap being held in place by a locking device coupled to the main cable. In a further modification the outlets from the supply device to the hoppers are controlled by slide valves which carry partitions extending into the hopper.
