Abstract

1,096,102. Tractor power lift mechanisms. RUBERY, OWEN & CO. Ltd. March 14, 1966 [March 16, 1965 (2)], Nos. 11094/65 and 11096/65. Addition to 1,088,954. Head. ing A1P. [Also in Division B7] In a modification of the power take-off coupling for transmitting power from a tractor power take-off to an implement as claimed in the parent Specification, a shaft assembly 22 connected to the power takeoff shaft 20 is resiliently suspended by a spring clip 23 from a frame 14 mounted on the power lift linkage 11, 12, 13 and is automatically released from the clip 23 when the frame 14 is raised with the shaft assembly 22 coupled to a shaft assembly 35 connected to the implement drive shaft 33, whereafter movement of the shaft assembly 22 is unimpeded by the clip. The clip 23 is formed of plastic-coated round or square section spring steel bent into generally U-shape with opposed portions 26 which releasably support the shaft assembly 22 and are engageable therewith by lowering the frame 14. Pivotal means 28 connecting the clip 23 to the frame 14 permit the clip to swing about both longitudinal and transverse axes. A plasticcoated steel rod 36 secured to the implement is formed with a loop 37 supporting the shaft assembly 35. A hook 19 is provided on the frame 14 for engagement with a hitching frame 32 on the implement draw-bar 31, and means (not shown) for coupling the lower portions of the frames 14, 32 are releasable by a lever 39. In another embodiment (Figs. 6, 8, not shown) the draw-bar 31 carries a ring engaged as the frame 14 is raised by a hook connected to the linkage 11, 12, 13. The shaft asemblies 22, 35 are generally similar to those described in the parent Specification and comprise respect shaft elements (Figs. 9, 10, not shown) which are conto the power take-off and implement shafts by universal joints and are provided with corresponding male and female square, rectangular or oval section coupling members guided into axial engagement as the tractor approaches the implement.
