Abstract

1,095,335. Plate-type heat exchangers. MINNESOTA MINING & MANUFACTURING CO. June 29, 1965, No. 27544/65. Heading F4S. A plate heat-exchanger comprises flat sheets 12, 13, 14 interposed between and in contiguous relation with corrugated plates 10 such that the acute angled corners of the flat sheets are substantially coterminous with the corners of the corrugated plates. The corrugations of adjacent plates 10 are in phase and adjacent sheets are inversely positioned with respect to each other. End plates 16, front and rear plates 18 and surfacing plates 20 further define the passageways (30), (32) (Fig. 4, not shown), and 40, 42, 44, 46 for the flow of the fluids in the directions respectively indicated by the arrows I, II. In an alternative embodiment (Fig. 5, not shown), the flat sheets are rhomboidal in shape. The heat exchanger is made from sinterable ceramic materials.
