Abstract

1,095,169. Drums. FRATELLI MEAZZI, F. CALDIRONI and A. OLIVIERI. Dec. 11, 1964 [Feb. 12, 1964], No. 50547/64. Heading G5J. The tension of a drum-head 11 is varied by a pedal 30. The pedal operates through linkages 28, 26 to rotate a rod 24 pivoted in bearings in the side of the drum. This rod, through further links 21, 23 pulls downwardly the ends of a number of radial rods 19, each of the rods pulling a hooked member 13 engaging the drum tensioning hoop 12 downwardly through a crank mechanism (Fig. 5, not shown), thus tensioning the drum. In the modified arrangement of Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), rotatable rod 24 is replaced by a lever pivoted at one side of the drum, the centre of the lever being connected to member 20. The drum is provided with supports 32 mounted in adjustable clamps 34 and adjustable stops 38 control the extent to which the drumhead tension can be released.
