Abstract
1,095,158. Package taping machines. UNIVERSUM-VERPACKUNGS G.m.b.H. & CO. KOMM. GES. Feb. 15, 1965 [Feb. 21, 1964], No. 6364/65. Heading B8F. As a package 15 (Fig. 1) is pushed into an apparatus for applying adhesive tape to the package closure it operates a switch 22 which causes a beam 18 to be lowered under power until it impinges on the package. In the embodiment described the operation of the switch 22 causes the conveyer 11 to move thus carrying the package 15 through the apparatus. The package is sensed by an arm 25 which turns about its pivot until it throws a switch 26 which stops the downward motion of the beam 18. The adhesive tape is supplied from rolls 14, 20 and pressed on to the package by rollers 16 and 21. After the adhesive tape has been applied to the package a finger 27 trips a switch 28 which causes the beam 18 to be lifted, and then a finger 12 trips a switch 29 which causes movement of the conveyer to cease. If the packages fed into the machine are of the same height a manually operated switch 30 disconnects the switch 29 and the beam 18 remains in its downward position until all packages have passed through.
