Abstract
1,095,024. Wire twisting machines. T. YOSHIDA. March 19, 1965 [March 23, 1964; Aug. 24, 1964 (3)], No. 11822/65. Heading D1T. A wire twisting machine has its supply bobbins 38, Fig. 1 mounted in floating cradles 32, each cradle 32 being surrounded by a flyer 56 around which the drawn off wire is passed such that it is twisted twice for each revolution of the flyer. The twisted wires are then collected together and fed through a die 1.08 to a take-up bobbin 124 in a floating cradle 118. The cradle 118 is surrounded by a flyer 112 and the wires from the die 108 are passed round the flyer 112 before being wound onto the take-up bobbin 124 such that the bunched wires are twisted twice for each revolution of the flyer 112. The cradles 32 and fliers 56 are supported cantilever fashion, and each cradle 32 has a side wall that can be swung away to permit an. empty bobbin to be removed from, and a full bobbin to be placed in, the cradle. The supply bobbin 38 may have electormagnetic brakes, the exciting current of which is increased when the machine is stopped. The take-up bobbin 124 may be driven by a torque motor the resistance of which is increased when the machine is stopped to reduce the torque developed. There is a capstan between the delivery apparatus and the winding apparatus and a further capstan within the floating frame, the capstans being selectively or simultaneously used.
